It’s been a busy six months since the release of ‘Love Letters’, the forth album from Joe Mount and his band.  With their stunning stage production stepping up a notch, and their personal stage style looking more and more like entertainers in the truest sense of the word (the foursome give a nod to American vocal groups of the 60s and 70s in matching stage suits and Repetto shoes), Metronomy mean business.  Last week, you couldn’t switch on Radio 1 or 6 Music without being met with some kind of pre-Glastonbury Metronomy excitement building – Lauren Laverne, Steve Lamacq, Stuart Maconie, Liz Kershaw and Mary Anne Hobbs were all flying the Metronomy flag in face of the band’s forthcoming appearance at the UK’s flagship music festival.

Metronomy played two heroic sets at Glastonbury 2014.  On Thursday they played an intimate secret show at the William’s Green tent, one of just two acts playing live that night.  The room was packed, the atmosphere was electric with sweat dripping off the ceiling and everyone there knew they had just witnessed one of the most special and intimate moments that Glastonbury is reputed for.  Then came Friday night; Metronomy stepped up to headline The Park stage, where a massive crowd had assembled – Mount and co rightfully owned the stage and the crowds danced and sang along to the back of the field.  ‘Thank you to everyone who has come to watch us headline Glastonbury 2014, I know the Pyramid Stage looks smaller on TV than in reality…’ said Joe Mount, his usual dry, self.  However you can’t help thinking it won’t be too long until the joke becomes a reality.

Metronomy is the sole creation of singer, writer and producer and expert musician Joseph Mount.  His band are: Oscar Cash (keys, sax, vox), Anna Prior (drums, vox), Gbenga Adelekan (vox, guitar).
