‘HOLD ON TO HAPPINESS’
Singer-songwriter Rhys Lewis returns with his heartfelt new track ‘Hold On To Happiness’, out on 22 February.
Accompanied by a simple stripped-back guitar, ‘Hold On To Happiness’ presents Rhys Lewis’ soulful vocals at the forefront, instantly gripping the listener from the very first note. Produced by Rhys working alongside Aidan Glover, the track was recorded straight to tape at their studio in South London. With poignant yet hopeful lyrics, this breathtaking song shows why Rhys is one of the most compelling young artists of today.
Speaking of the track, Rhys explains:
“We’re simple creatures at heart, I don’t believe we need a lot to be happy, but we live in a complicated world now that seems to make us focus more on the things we don’t have than the things we do. Social media makes people fall into that trap, and I’ve realised how damaging it is.
Life just happens, and it’ll pass you by if you let it. So, I’m trying to stay more in the present, to be truly there when the moment’s golden, to make memories I'll reminisce not regret.”
Alongside the release of ‘Hold On To Happiness’, Rhys also today announces a headline tour in May. Touring extensively over the past couple of years, he's opened for artists such as Sigrid, Freya Ridings, JP Cooper and James TW whilst his headline shows draw fans that queue overnight to be first in to his electrifying sold out shows, from London to Amsterdam and New York to Berlin.
The past 12 months have been a whirlwind for the London-based singer. With eight songs and an EP release to date, Rhys is fast catching the attention of critics and fans internationally, with his music reaching an ever-growing global fanbase. Originally from Oxford, the 27-year-old singer-songwriter crafts his songs with a maturity that belies his years and he has become known for dissecting his own experiences with an emotional honesty and bravery, making it irresistible to listeners worldwide.
He has had heavy support from BBC Introducing, recording two live sessions, performing at a BBC Introducing show in London, received critical acclaim from key UK press, and most impressively, performing the British Music Embassy stage at SXSW Festival 2018.
Heart-breaking ballad ‘No Right To Love You’ was released last May and has quietly grown through the year to help his catalogue boast over 90 million streams. 2019 shows no signs of slowing down for rising star Rhys Lewis.
