MarkÚta Irglovß London Bush Hall Show Announced for 2015

Academy Award winning musician Markéta Irglová has announced a new London show at Bush Hall in 2015 following the release of new album ‘Muna’. This follows her sold out show in St Pancras Church later this year.

A lot has been accomplished since 2008 when Markéta became the first Czech woman to win an Oscar. At 19-years-old became the youngest person to win an Oscar in a musical category for her song “Falling Slowly” from the acclaimed film ‘Once’ in which she composed with Glen Hansard.

Markéta has toured the world twice over with Glen as part of The Swell Season where they recorded two albums. During this time she also released her debut album ‘ANAR’. In the spring of 2012 she began recording her follow up album MUNA, in Iceland. She fell in love with the country and the people, and one person in particular. She is still there and is now the proud mother of a baby girl.

Of the new album out now on Anti Records Markéta said:

‘This record is a journey I would like you to embark upon with me. It is a story, with every song a chapter, connected to the one which follows it and that which came before it, and yet each is also a story of its own and can be taken out of the context of the whole, its message remaining intact. The stories will be different for each of you, for if you let the music in, it will pass through your own filters of experiences, memories, beliefs, thought patterns and feelings to evoke images, and project them onto the backdrop of your mind, and you can sit back and watch the movie of your own making with your inner sight. In this way, many things that have been hidden or altogether forgotten can come to light and be remembered.’

She is fully blossomed into a seasoned performer who has clearly become an artist to be reckoned with. In a relatively short time Markéta has accomplished some incredible stuff, seen even more amazing things and walked through her fair share of fire.  With each step she has strived to stay grounded and centred and learn from both the ups and the downs.

This new world tour with her band sees her travel the length and breadth of America before heading back to Europe with shows in Prague, Cologne, Berlin, Brussels, Dublin and London.
