Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall turns 18 in 2018, with the first two huge headliners announced to celebrate a special birthday.
Manchester’s Courteeners are having one the biggest years of their life and return as headliners after supporting Noel Gallagher in 2010. They will play their debut album St Jude.
And one of the world’s biggest rock bands, Leicester’s Kasabian will return for the fourth time to continue their incredible support for Teenage Cancer Trust.
Since 2000, over 235 artists and comedians have played Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall, raising over £27 million for young people with cancer. These incredible shows have played a vital role in helping the charity to provide 28 specialist cancer units and over 60 nursing and support staff in NHS hospitals across the UK, making an incredible difference to young people diagnosed with cancer around the country. But for every young person Teenage Cancer Trust currently supports, there’s another they can’t. Every penny they raise goes towards their goal of reaching every young person with cancer who needs them.
2018’s impressive line-up adds to an extraordinary legacy that has seen unique, once in a lifetime performances like Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn performing together for the first time ever in 2013, Sir Paul McCartney in 2012, plus everyone from Muse to The Cure, Tinie Tempah, Florence + The Machine, Ed Sheeran, Kasabian, Stereophonics, Paul Weller, Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Sir Tom Jones and many more. And, of course, some of the greatest concerts of the past 20 years from The Who.
Last year hit new heights with the 100th Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall show, performed, of course, by The Who. There were also incredible performances by Ed Sheeran, Olly Murs, Paul Weller, Pet Shop Boys with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, a night of comedy hosted by Romesh Ranganathan, plus surprise guest appearances by Michael McIntyre and Noel Gallagher.
Teenage Cancer Trust at the Royal Albert Hall was conceived and curated by the charity’s Honorary Patron Roger Daltrey CBE, the legendary frontman of The Who, and he still plays a vital role in making the shows happen.

Courteeners are Manchester’s own, having built a huge fanbase in their home city and beyond. They led the city’s response to the Manchester Arena terrorist attack this year by going ahead with a triumphant homecoming gig at Old Trafford to 50,000 fans a few days later.
And frontman Liam Fray has been selling out his own acoustic tour, exploring the band’s back catalogue. So for us, they are reliving their celebrated 2008 debut, St Jude, performing the album for an emotional night for its 10th anniversary, before releasing it as an unplugged record - ‘St Jude Re:Wired’ - in April.
“It’s a great honour and privilege to perform for such a brilliant charity at such a legendary venue,” says Liam Fray, “This will be the first and last time we’ll ever perform our debut album St. Jude in full in London and we’re really pleased to be doing it for a such a great cause."
Kasabian are currently on a 12 date UK Arena tour, playing their latest Number 1 album (their 5th overall) ‘For Crying Out Loud’ for their masses of fans. Formed in Leicester in 1997, they have become one of Britain’s biggest rock bands, taking on the Britpop mantle into the noughties, fusing club beats with rock n roll over six pulsating albums.
Classic hits ‘Club Foot’, ‘Fire’, ‘Shoot The Runner’ and the rest are jostling with new hits like ‘You’re In Love With A Psycho’, making a night out with Kasabian a true 2018 date in the diary.
Kasabian singer Tom Meighan says, “We love playing the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust. It is a show we have come back to throughout our career for the special atmosphere and the amazing cause. Our fans love it and we do too, it will be a highlight of 2018 for us.”
