Yorkshire born alt-pop outfit Litany shares new EP ‘Single Player Mode’.

Following on from her impressive 2017 debut EP ‘4 Track’ and previous singles ‘My Dude’ (which has over 3 million streams and featured on BBC Radio 1 as ‘Track Of The Week’), ‘Go Out’ and ‘Love Letter’, ‘Single Player Mode’ is the stunning EP title track which showcases Beth’s powerful vocal ability.

The EP is laced with Litany’s trademark nostalgic influences, dreamlike melodies, coming together to create a magical slice of pop perfection. Litany is the alias of Beth Cornell and the EP allows her smokey vocal to take centre stage as she continues to put her stamp on alternative pop, sonically sitting next to the likes of Blood Orange, Carly Rae Jepson and  Metronomy.

A chance discovery of a teenage diary led to half of the songs on ‘Single Player Mode’. ‘My Dude’ sounds like a playground Madonna track, full of references to teenage life in the early days of the internet - MSN Messenger, emoticons, trusting implicitly in the wisdom of a Magic 8 Ball - and yearning for a guy who wants an older woman. “It's mostly fact... And then a little fiction. I just read that diary entry and was like oh my god this is gold!” ‘Love Letter’ follows a similar theme, based on another vignette of Cornell’s high school life set to an ABBA-esque melody and an irresistible, clap-along rhythm. The anthemic ‘Go Out’ however, is written about Beth’s struggles with depression at university and how a party she didn’t want to attend, lead to finding someone who made her feel like she could go out again. The EP’s title track ‘Single Player Mode’ closes the EP in what is a heart-breaking track about Jake leaving the band and Beth to continue on her own. The beautiful and soul-bearing release really is the EP’s finest moment and will see Beth carve her name as an impressive and dynamic songwriter.
For the past few years, Litany has been bringing her own brand of intelligent alt-pop to the foray. Formerly a duo formed whilst at school in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, Litany now consists solely of lead singer Beth Cornell. As a duo, Litany created a sonic catalogue with a real ode to adolescence and had a stream of successful cult hits including ‘Bedroom’, taken from their debut EP and has been heralded by the likes of BBC Radio 1 and Beats 1. However, 2019 looks set for bolder things as Litany welcomes a new chapter with Beth in the driving seat.

Fresh off the back of her sold out headline show at London’s The Garage in October, Litany announces her ‘Single Player Mode’ headline tour, confirming she is an artist that is firmly on the rise.
