About the guests..

Portico Quartet.. Over the last 8 years and 3 albums, Portico Quartet have built their unique sound into something very special. Drawing on both tough electronic & ambient/classical influences, they concoct a strange and beautiful slow burn sound with plenty of punch, especially live.

Scruff collaborators Matthew Halsall & Denis Jones have been blazing their own trails for several years now.. Matthew with his Gondwana label, 4 (soon to be 5) of his own albums of sublime spiritual jazz, and more recently his Matthew Halsall Trio, with Matt on Trumpet/loops/FX, Taz Modi (Submotion Orchestra) on the Sub Bass & Synths, and Matt Davies (Paper Tiger) on drums. Each player using a variety of electronic effects to broaden their range, drawing on spiritual jazz and ambient electronica to create an otherworldly and blissful sound.

Denis Jones, meanwhile, in addition to being all over the new Scruff album, has released 2 solo albums and been creating music for films, including “Kaleidoscope” a film by Thomas Patrick which won awards at the Amsterdam Film Festival, Royal Television Society and London Short Film Festival 2013. His unique, soulful & off-balance one man live show has toured extensively throughout mainland Europe over the last 6 years.
